Terms of Service
Plain English.
No surprises.
These Terms cover your use of HostBook. We've kept them short and readable — the way terms should be, but rarely are.
Effective: [LAUNCH_DATE] · Last updated: [LAUNCH_DATE]
1. The basics
Install the app.
You agree to these Terms.
HostBook is a software product owned and operated by [YOUR_LEGAL_NAME]. By installing or using HostBook, you agree to these Terms.
If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2. Your license
Use it on your
own Apple devices.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Install HostBook on any Apple device tied to your Apple ID
- Use HostBook for your own personal or business hosting bookkeeping
- Subject to the App Store's Standard EULA, which governs the app installation itself
You don't owe us anything beyond payment for paid features, if you choose to subscribe.
3. What you cannot do
Don't take it apart.
Don't redistribute it.
You cannot:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble HostBook
- Redistribute HostBook outside the App Store
- Use HostBook to break the law
- Use HostBook in any way that infringes on others' rights
- Attempt to circumvent or crack the in-app purchase system
4. Subscriptions & billing
Apple handles billing.
Always.
HostBook is free to install, with optional paid features through HostBook Pro subscriptions.
- Monthly subscription: charged each month until cancelled
- Annual subscription: charged each year until cancelled
All billing is handled by Apple through the App Store. We don't process or store your payment information.
To cancel
- iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → HostBook → Cancel
- Mac: System Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases → Manage → HostBook → Cancel
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep access to HostBook Pro until then.
Refunds
Apple's refund policy applies to all App Store purchases: support.apple.com/HT204084. We can't process refunds directly — Apple handles refund requests through their system.
5. The app itself
We provide HostBook
as-is.
We've worked hard to make it reliable, but we can't promise:
- It will be free of bugs
- It will work on every future iOS or macOS version
- Your data will never be lost — which is why we encourage regular exports
Important: HostBook is a tool, not advice
HostBook is a personal finance organizer. It is NOT:
- Tax advice
- Accounting software certified for any specific jurisdiction
- A substitute for a professional accountant
You are responsible for verifying the numbers HostBook shows you, for filing your taxes correctly, and for complying with the tax and reporting laws of your country.
6. Your data
You own it.
Always.
Your data stays on your device and in your private iCloud account. See our Privacy Policy for the full details. You own your data — we don't.
7. Limitation of liability
The legalese,
kept brief.
To the maximum extent allowed by law:
- We aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Our total liability is capped at what you've paid us in the last 12 months (or USD $50, whichever is greater)
This doesn't limit liabilities that can't legally be limited — gross negligence, fraud, death or personal injury caused by us, and statutory consumer rights you have in your jurisdiction.
8. Termination & changes
Stop using HostBook
any time.
Termination by you
You can stop using HostBook anytime — just delete the app.
Termination by us
We may terminate access if you violate these Terms (e.g. attempting to crack the in-app purchase system, redistributing the app illegally). We'll usually warn you first.
If we stop offering HostBook entirely, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and provide a way to export your data.
Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms in a material way:
- We'll update the “Effective” date above
- We'll post a notice in the app
- For very material changes, we'll request your re-acceptance
9. Governing law
Whose courts
decide disputes.
These Terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR_JURISDICTION]. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of HostBook will be resolved in the courts of [YOUR_JURISDICTION].
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that can't legally be waived in your jurisdiction.
